There is a multitude of health benefits that one can get using CBD products. However, you should also be aware certain risks if not used in the right way. Unlike what most people tend to believe, CBD and THC are complete different substances. Unlike THC, CBD has no psychoactive components that can induce changes in the mental state of people.
In 2018, the FDA has approved a concentrated or purified form of CBD oil for the treatment of epilepsy. Hemp and marijuana are from the same plant entity – Cannabis Sativa. However, they are different in terms of substance being produced due to the differing process of how the plant is cultivated. In contrast to marijuana which are bred by certain marijuana farmers to produce the highest levels of THC, hemp are not modified in the same way and are instead used from a variety of their features such as hemp oil and hemp fiber.
All the cannabinoids produce their effect on the body by attaching to CB1 receptors and CB2 receptors. THC mostly attaches to CB1 receptors are found to control emotion, pain, mood, appetite, memories, movement and coordination. CB2 receptors, on the other hand, mostly affect the immune system by modulating inflammation and pain. Research has recently found that CBD does not attach to these receptors but, in fact, induce the body’s own cannabinoid system.
CBD may have different effects such as a natural form of pain relief and have anti-inflammatory properties. There has also been evidence that CBD can be used to treat people who are recovering from smoking addiction and drug withdrawals. Research on addictive behaviors have found that the use of CBD contining inhalers to long time smokers resulted in the reduction of nicotine cravings. Research has also found that it can be useful for those suffering from opioid addiction, lowering the drug withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia and mood symptoms.
Perhaps the most effective use of CBD have been for treatment of epileptic seizures. Epidiolex, which is a concentrated form of CBD extract, have now been used by doctors to treat many forms of pediatric seizures. Those seizure types where anti-seizure medications has no effects have become the means where CBD derived drugs have been used. The effects from the drug are variable but significant evidence have surfaced for the effectiveness in alleviating and controlling the symptoms of these seizures. It has also been found that CBD have less side-effects to that of other standard anti-seizure medications.
Some research have now shed light into the effectiveness of CBD in treating diseases such as cancer, anxiety and diabetes type 1. Normalization of the use of cannabinoids and related products is now being progressing due to the ever increasing need to expand the inventory of available drugs to fight diseases.
